Renewal License Categories

Provisional Renewal

1 Year

Limited Authority to Teach
(LAT)

2 years

Can only be renewed once after registration, for a period of
2 years.

For Individuals with recognized teacher training and rejoining
teachers

Full Registration Renewal

3 Years

Requires 1 year of teaching under provisional registration

Institutional Renewal

Per Approved Period

For multiple individuals registered under one institutional
application.

  • Select any option to explore information and download necessary forms.

  • All documentation submitted with the forms for processing must be verified by a Commissioner of Oaths or Justice of Peace.

Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) Renewal

  • Must provide evidence of upgrade to formal teacher training from a recognized institution.

  • Must show successful completion of professional development endorsed in favor of the teacher by the Head of School.

Requirements

Renewal

  • Can only be renewed once after registration, for a period of 2 years.

  • Total Fee: FJ$15

Forms

Penalties and Deadlines

  • All renewals must be completed by 31st December of the expiry year.

  • Late renewal incurs a $30 penalty.

  • If not renewed by 31st December of expiry year, only then a new medical and police report would need to be submitted.

Provisional Registration Renewal

  • Renewal forms must be endorsed by the Head of School and Divisional Education Officers for the Heads of Schools.

  • 1 Year

  • Total Fee: FJ$30

Forms

Penalties and Deadlines

  • All renewals must be completed by 31st December of the expiry year.

  • Late renewal incurs a $30 penalty.

  • If not renewed by 31st December of expiry year, a new medical and police report would need to be submitted.

Rejoining Teachers

  • Teachers who resign and return to the profession will be placed under Provisional Registration.

  • Must submit:

    • Medical clearance

    • Police clearance

    • Letter of re-engagement

    • For teachers that had Disciplinary Case must provide Clearance Letter from Ministry of Education

  • All teachers must hold formal teacher training qualifications.

Full Registration Renewal

  • Renewal forms must be endorsed by the Head of School and Divisional Education Officers for the Heads of Schools.

  • Teachers who resign and return to the profession will be placed under Provisional Registration.

Institutional Registration Renewal

For Previously Registered Institution:

  • Letter from Head of HR stating:

    • No adverse record for employees

    • Medically fit for employment

For New Incumbents:

  • Medical clearance

  • Police clearance

Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs)

  • TTIs to register with FTRA at the beginning of every year

  • TTIs to ensure all students attend orientation before they attend Induction

  • Practicum approval for individual students will be given based on:

    • Attended Orientation

    • Police Clearance received by Fiji Teachers Registration Authority

Teacher Educators or Practicum coordinators must ensure every student going for practicum lodge police clearance one or two months prior to practicum commencement date
